Pencil and ink drawing of Jerry Garcia – Keep On Truckin’
In my world…
This week I thought I would try drawing a few anime/manga drawings. I’m not exactly sure what the difference is between the two styles but I did enjoy drawing each picture. I like the simple drawing style of both and the uniqueness of the eyes.
Keep drawing!

I love both caricature and cartooning and I was watching a caricature artists tutorial about drawing Tim Cook. I was drawing along with the artist and this is what I ended up with more of a cartoon of Tim Cook than a caricature. Same amount of fun just finished with a different look. 🙂
Keep drawing! Enjoy!

My nephew accepted a scholarship to the Stop-Motion school at Hampshire College in New Hampshire last summer, very exciting. So I decided, as a gift, to make him a tee-shirt for the occasion. I created a cartoon character that resembled him in four different poses. The image below has each of the original drawings and the final print for the tee-shirt and I thought I would go through my process with you.
I began by drawing a character, the first drawing, that was the cartoon version of my nephew. Next I laid tracing paper over the first drawing and drew his arms in various positions and changed his facial expression to match and I did this three times. I ended up with four Jackson’s and ran them through Photo Shop and colored each a different color and dropped a film background in and added the text for the school. The final print for the tee-shirt is the first picture in the image. Using the direct to garment print process I had the final graphic added to the tee-shirt.
In my opinion, the tee-shirt turned out pretty good and my nephew was both surprised and very happy with the gift.
Enjoy and keep drawing!

So one of the things I struggle with is drawing eyes. I decided to make that my drawing this week and I feel pretty good about how the eye turned out. What are some of the things you struggle with in your art? Any suggestions about how I could make this eye better? 🙂
Thanks,

Paris Girl – I drew the girl in the picture using colored pencils but she seemed a bit lonely on the page. I pulled a royalty-free image of Paris and dropped it in the background and placed a graphic of an airplane in the picture from Photoshop and Voila’ Paris Girl!
Keep drawing!

2019 Drawing Challenge – draw something every day…
Okay. Let me first begin by saying drawing something everyday is much more difficult than I had anticipated. Maybe some of you saw this coming…but this does not mean that I am not going to continue with my challenge it simply means I will need to adjust the scope of my frequency of drawing. Also I do not want to become that annoying blogger person that sacrifices quality for quantity.
My 2019 drawing challenge – draw something everyday is going to become draw something everyday but complete the drawing weekly instead of daily. 🙂
As Sponge Bob would say
“We don’t need television not as long as we have our imagination”.
Keep drawing!

2019 drawing challenge to draw something everyday – here is my Joker.
I was following along with Jim Lee and if you have ever watched him he draws very fast. My goal is to become a better artist by seeing the way the very skilled artist sees when drawing.
Clearly, there are some mistakes but drawing loose and quickly you have very little time to over-correct, which I think is very useful for learning the skill.
Thanks.
